Citizens Advice Bureaux
Provides free, independent and impartial advice on many matters
including debt matters, housing, legal etc. The website includes
news headlines, news library, how to get advice with an online directory
to find your nearest bureau and local website, together with online
advice and information.

Community Legal Advice
Set up by the Government, the objective of CLA
is to assist in finding help from legal service providers. There
is a directory of over 15,000 legal services providers in the UK
with a search facility by postcode. In addition there is a database
of websites (see Advice Search) listing information sources on the
web categorised by type of law, e.g. Housing, Family, Consumer Law
etc.

Court Service
An executive agency of the Lord Chancellors Office, the site includes
information including a range of forms and leaflets on property

Environment Agency
Find the environmental data on your area by entering your postcode
- information you may find useful when moving to a new area.

A free service whereby the postcode of the property you intend to
purchase is submitted and a homecheck report is produced immediately
giving a very general indication of the risk of flooding, subsidence,
radon levels, problems associated with coal mining, landslip, landfill,
waste, contamination, air quality and pollution.

A site containing plenty of useful, readable information
on home reposession and debt collection. There are also real life
cases giving experiences of reposession and shortfall claims

HousingNet
A valuable resource covering all aspects of social and private housing
in the UK organised in helpful categories and easy to navigate.

HM Land Registry
The Land Registry guarantees the title to, and records the ownership
of, interests in registered land in England and Wales. As well as
providing information on local offices, the website provides an
interactive facility to view price data on property transactions
by location, price range and property type. The site also allows
the downloading of various forms, including a request for details
of ownership of a particular property (see the information page
and then search for "who owns that property").

A free of charge, online change of address service allowing you
to inform people and organisations (utilities etc) when you move.

Shelter National Campaign for the Homeless
The only national provider of free, specialist housing advice
to those people in desperate housing need. Network of 61 Housing
Aid Centres and a 24 hour freephone helpline, Shelterline. Frontline
services include meeting emergency needs, helping prevent homelessness
and providing long term practical solutions to people's housing
problems. The Shelter website contains links to its regional office
sites.

If you are looking to move then, simply by entering the postcode
of the area in which you are interested, upmystreet.co.uk provides
a useful insight into the neighbourhood. It includes an overview
of the area, prices by property type compared to the national average,
schools, as well as local authority information, unemployment statistics
and local services.
