Subject: Help inspire women to celebrate newfound freedom.
Posted By Zoe on 02-12-2009
Hi all,
I am a student making a documentary about women who throw divorce parties. As someone whose parents went through a long and very painful divorce, I understand that this will not apply universally- and hope you don't think me insensitive for posting here. I'm sorry if I offend anyone, it's not my intention.
As I said, I am in the process of researching a film about recently divorced women- with the aim of inspiring those who have been through a really tough time and want to celebrate to share their experiences.
I am currently looking for 3 women who might be happy to allow me to feature them in my film.
If you have thrown a divorce party, know someone who has, or are considering throwing one when your divorce comes through, I would love to hear from you.
This is a genuine request from a young, london-based, independent filmmaker looking for help. And again, I'm sorry if I've offended anyone.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks.
Zoe. :)

A party was the last thing on my mind. Absolutely no way.

I might throw a housewarming party though, if and when it is ever really over and I manage to get out of this wretched house to start my real new beginning. That would be a cause for celebrating. Getting the piece of paper from the court is just one little step in the process and not really a happy event.

This is EXACTLY why I agree with the student loan system!

Hope you have your application to Mcdonalds in already....

Thanks stuart, that's really helpful.
I am actually an Oxford University graduate. I studied English Literature at Keble college. I am now studying for a Screen Documentary Masters Degree at Goldsmiths University.
I have already apologised if the post seems insensitive. There's no need to be like that.
And as for the parties, perhaps if you don't believe people have them you should speak to the Pink Rose Cake Company in Brighton, or the Great Northern Fireworks company- who earn their living providing for such events.

Zoe - I think you should go elsewhere. This site is for people who need advice and help.
Your apology was lame because you still asked the question.

Thing is Zoe, you have come to a divorce website which is here to HELP people who are suffering to ask a question that quite honestly is lame as the degree for which you are studying.
Screen Documentary Masters degree???
WTF is that in the greater context of the real world love?
Where is it going to lead?? Perhaps another university degree course??
People here are suffering......I put you in the same box as those morons taking photos of Diana as she lay dying.....
Now kindly piss off.

I want to know how it is these frigwit people are allowed to ask such offensive questions on here in the first place.
Used to be a time when the people who ran the site would send the likes of Zoe where she belongs....Fucking stupid students....lol

I'm really sorry to have caused such offense. Genuinely.
I'm now trying to work out how to delete the post so that, as Stuart put it, I can 'kindly piss off'.
