Subject: Am I divorced? ... help
Posted By whichwaysup on 17-01-2010
I received papers from the county court this week - ive had no previous notice of this.
It states that hereby certified that the said decree was on the ...date... made final and absolute and that the said marriage was therby dissolved. (Our decree nisi was in 2006)
Then the second page has a General order that states..... Before the district judge on ...date...
upon hearing the petitioner by letter
and upon non-attendance of the respondent (I didnt know anythign about this)
IT IS ORDERED THAT
1. Permission to make decree nisi absolute out of time.
So, what does that mean. When we were going through our financial settlement 3 years ago, my solicitor told me that the whole process would prob have to be applied for again if he didnt get his act together because there is a time frame between the two stages.
The first page sounds like I am, but the second may not. Theres no contact number of anything on the letter so Im hoping someone on here can shed some light for me????

IF no one applies for the absolute after a year direction has to be sought to apply for the nisi to be become absolute 'out of time.' It appears permission was granted and you are now divorced!
